The 2013 Radio Disney Music Awards were held on last Saturday night (April 27) at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles and had teen pop stars Selena Gomez, Cher Lloyd and Cody Simpson as the 'highlight' performers of the show.
Selena, back from her re-union with boyfriend (?) Justin Bieber in Norway a few days ago, delivered a new performance of her Stargate-produced new single "Come and Get It". The tribal-feeling tune is the first offering from Gomez' upcoming fourth studio album due in stores this summer. Her performance looked strong! But it seems "Come and Get It" is kind of not connecting with the US audience. For being a new single by a Disney, and teen star like Selena, the new single ain't reaching high peaks at a speedy pace.
UK's Cher Lloyd hit the stage at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live as well to perform her new US single, the flawless "With Ur Love". Cute performance, but DEAD at THIS song being her 'new single'. It had its moment in the UK, I believe Cher tried to promote it as the new single months ago (but failed), but recently her US label re-took it and promoted it more with a new music video, and a series of live performances in major gigs. However, the song ain't doing a great job. She should really end this era and start work on LP #2.
Australian singer Cody Simpson did not want to miss 2013 Radio Disney Music Awards either. The 16-year-old treated his fans with a two-performance that featured the buzz track "Awake All Night" and his official new single "Pretty Brown Eyes". Good vocals, but "Pretty Brown Eyes" has failed to impress. Aftering peaking I believe at #29 on iTunes USA, the summery recording is now nowhere to be found on the Top 100 songs chart, lol. Other performers at the awards show were Austin Mahone, who sang his new single "Say You're Just A Friend", and Bridgit Mendler who did "Hurricane".
